WELCOME TO KVERNELAND NEW ZEALAND

Quality Fast Discing with the Qualidisc

11/01/2018

The Kverneland Qualidisc Pro is an innovative new product for Power Farming New Zealand. It is a cropping disc harrow, designed and robustly built to cut and incorporate stubble and other crop residues whilst refining a seedbed prior to sowing. But it has a major point of difference.

John Chapman, Power Farming’s North Island cultivation specialist said, “The Qualidisc Pro has some new and exciting features that set it apart from other brands. For example; the ability to adjust the disc angle as the blades wear, so that the blade’s overlap is maintained. This action ensures even cultivation and no corrugation of the soil at working depth.”

Qualidisc has multi seasonal capabilities, performing equally well in both spring and autumn. It will undertake a multitude of tasks from heavy crop residue incorporation, preparing sprayed out paddocks for seeding as well as final pass levelling to produce a fine seedbed.

The Qualidisc is manufactured at the renowned Kverneland cultivation factory at Les Landes Génusson, France. Their special relationship with Kverneland Klepp, and its laboratory specialising in the heat treatment of steel, offers all the benefits and experience of plough production, to their products. Kverneland Les Landes Génusson is home of the well known New Zealand products; The Kverneland CLC Ripper, the Kverneland TLC Seedbed Cultivator, the Kverneland CTC Trailed Cultivator and the newly arrived Kverneland Kultistrip Strip Tillage machine.

The Qualidisc lives up to Kverneland’s reputation for sturdiness in design and build, with a heavy box section central frame and wing assembly. It provides for working widths of 5m, 6m and 7m with the option of stabilising front wheels for wider models.

Characteristic of Kverneland’s minimal maintenance mantra the strong, reliable and fully integrated, sealed bearings on the Qualidisc require no maintenance. They have a 35mm shaft for a heavy load capacity and are covered by a 2-year warranty.

John Chapman said, “The Qualidisc’s effectiveness is largely due to its large 600mm discs with close spacing, giving excellent chopping and sizing ability. The reduced concave design and working angle of the discs ensures excellent penetration, incorporation and soil cultivation.”

The combination of Kverneland’s trademark high quality heat-treated steel provides a very high degree of hardness to the discs. Combined with the unique lateral adjustment feature, the Qualidisc will have the ability to prolong the effectiveness of the discs through an easily made adjustment.

Lateral deflectors retain soil flow within the working width, and the finger harrow regulates the soil flow behind the discs, ensuring the fine soil stays on the top layer for improved germination.

The Actipacker Roller with skids and knives helps consolidate and provide a finer clean finish to the seedbed, even in wet conditions. The cultivation depth adjustment of between 2cm and 15cm is easily made hydraulically, using spacers to hold the ram in position. No tools are required.

John Chapman concluded, “Because of the Qualidisc’s great design, build, and the flexibility it offers, we expect it to become a very well used and popular machine on arable farms, farms where crops are grown for fodder, and with contractors. Following a successful spring demo programme there will be further chances to see the Qualidisc in action in
the autumn.”
